Fog, Santa Lucia Mountains
Fog, Santa Lucia Mountains
Fog, Santa Lucia Mountains by Caitlin Reclusado of Reckless Arts
Taken from high in the air, this image shows a bird’s eye view of the ridges of the Santa Lucia mountains as they rise out of the earth, stark, and ancient. The rich shadows of the mountains cut like a knife through the soft, meandering fog, while the valleys cradle gatherings of clouds. One can feel the strength of these mountains, weathered by storm and fire through the ages.

Caitlin Reclusado started her journey in photography at the ripe old age of three, armed with a scandalously neon-orange 110m camera. The photographs themselves were not terribly memorable, but she fell in love with light and the ability to capture one’s view of the world. When the time came for college, she went to Brooks Institute, where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Art. As an artist, she believes first and foremost that we are all beautiful. And her goal is to live in a world where we aren’t taught to ignore or diminish our own rarity. Instead, she wants to live in a world where we are taught to embrace that gift. Where we remember and honor our inherent beauty and connection to nature, to the cycles and the seasons. She feels that we are given such a narrow definition of what is beautiful in this world. Her hope as a photographer is to help broaden that definition.
